Project:£93,000 of grant funding secured from the Heritage Lottery Fund.

Thousands left the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead during the Great War, never to return. One of the enduring legacies we have of their sacrifice is the names on 200 war memorials in Windsor, Maidenhead and the surrounding villages.

For King and Country was a project designed to engage with local people to record stories of those involved in the First World War by asking them to help uncover the stories of local people who gave their lives.

Our Community provided development support for the project, which included stakeholder engagement and the writing of the successful funding application to the the Heritage Lottery Fund. We were subsequently appointed to provide project management and evaluation support during the delivery phase of the project. The HLF funded project was completed during 2016 but continues with local volunteer support.
