The Academy Sport Leisure Centre is located in Whitley, south of Reading in Berkshire.
Our Community Enterprise supported AcademySport Leisure to raise £500,000 of funding for the conversion of their existing sand filled astroturf to new high quality 3G pitch available to support the growth of grass roots football in Whitley. We completed the work in two phases:
Project Scoping and Development Phase
This stage incorporated a significant level of stakeholder engagement and partnership development with Reading Football Club, local senior/junior football clubs, the Berks and Bucks FA and other local stakeholders in order to develop a robust proposal in response to local needs. Key outputs from this stage the project documentation needed to meet the requirements of key funders, including:
Football development plan.
High level business plan.
Detailed programme of use.
The development and submission of funding applications to the Football Foundation and other local funders, including supporting AcdemySport Leisure to respond to and addressing the information requirements of funders during the application assessment process.
Over £400,000 of funding was secured for the scheme which was opened for public use in the Autumn of 2016.
